TO: All Society of St. Vincent de Paul Members in the South Central Region SUBJECT: Call for Nominations and Election Process for National Vice President

A committee has been formed to carry out the election process for the National Vice President for the South Central Region. The committee members are:
Nomination Requirements: 1) Must be an active member of the Society as defined in the Rule.
2) Nomination must come from the Conference President from Isolated Conference or National Council Member for councils.
3) Self-nomination is permitted but must follow #2 requirement.
4) Nominations must include #2, 3 in the reference above.
Election Timeline: 1) Call for nominations to all SCR January 20
2) Closing date for applications, statements, and bios February 15
3) Applications, statements, and bios to Regional Election Committee February 17
4) Approval of candidates by National President Elect February 24
5) Election notice to all SCR members via email March 3
6) Election ballot to all SCR NCMs and Isolated Conference President via mail March 10
7) Closing date for all ballots to Carol Croom in envelop provided (postmark) April 21
8) Ballots Counted by Election Committee April 26
9) Vice President elect announces at Regional Meeting May 5
Additional Information:
1) As indicated above all nominees must be approved by the National President Elect, John Berry. The nominations will be sent to the National Election Committee Chair, Ray Sickinger for John’s review and approval.
2) While the final ballots will come from the Isolated Conference Presidents or National Council Member it is expected that the members will be consulted. This can be done by electronic means and does not need to be secret ballot unless the nominee is a member of that grouping. It will follow the same process as the National Council President election.
3) The Isolated Conference ballots will be counted and the nominee of choice will receive 1 vote.
4) The 3 Election Committee Members will vote prior to counting the ballots and the votes sealed and only opened in case of a tie.
5) Ballots will be counted via Zoom by the Election Committee and results sent to the National Election Committee Chair, Ray Sickinger.
6) If more than two nominees emerge there will be an election at the Midyear Meeting to narrow the candidates to two. NCM’s and Isolated Conference Presidents will vote by ballot with Isolated Conference votes being counted as one vote.
